Longhorn & The PDC

Pictorial

Over 30 people attended the February meeting which took place on the 10th floor of the Art Institute of Colorado at 1200 Lincoln, Denver CO.

For the February meeting, we had guest speaker Mike Brnye talk about and demonstrate on some of the upcoming features and changes in Microsoft's next generation operating system, currently codenamed Longhorn.

Mike touched on such topics as new areas of Longhorn (such as Avalon, Indigo, WinFX, and WinFS), currently projected system requirements, XAML support, 2D and 3D pipelines and various other features. In one example Mike used XAML to turn a grid of checkboxes into the beginnings of a Tic-Tac-Toe game.

The next meeting will be on March 1st at 7:00 PM at the Art Institute. The topic will be "Experimental Gaming and Machinima."
