Meeting wrap-up May 5th, 2003

Garrett Link Presents On Developing Content For RealNetworks

About 30 people attended the May meeting which took place on the 10th floor of the Art Institute of Colorado.

This was the first meeting headed up by new chapter head Karl Fasick, and the transition was quite smooth.

Garrett Link, Producer and Project Manager for RealNetworks was our guest speaker this month. He gave a brief presentation followed by a question-and-answer session. Garrett talked about what is involved in developing games for RealNetworks, a brief business model, what kinds of games did well under his company and which did not do so well. He was also promoting RealOne Arcade's Game Developer Showdown, which is an open call for game developer's to compete for $100,000 for first prize and $25,000 each to the two runner-ups. Submissions are being accepted into July. Visit http://gamedevs.realonearcade.com/contest for more details.

During the last the last half of the meeting, we broke into smaller discussion groups around such topics as massively-multiplayer game development and the local game development community.

Garrett gave out his business card during the meeting. If you were unable to attend or didn't get one but are still interested in talking more with him, the following contact methods are available:
